Conchostracos (Crustaceae-Conchostraca) paleozoicos de la Region de Antofagasta, norte de Chile

Abstract

RESUMEN Se describen diversos conchostracos provenientes del 'Miembro Medio' de las formaciones Pular (Carbonilero tardio a ?Permico temprano) y Peine (Permico? tardio) de la Region de Antofagasta (Norte de Chile). Se hace referencia a los antecedentes sobre la geologia y edad de los niveles fosiliferos y se brinda una descripcion detallada de los ejemplares presentes: Cyzicus(Euestheria) cf. Aricensis (Jones) de la Formacion Pular y Palaeolimnadiopsis sp., Cernia sp., Estheriina (Estheriina) sp., Palaeolimnadia (Grandilimnadia) herbstin. sp., Cyclestherioides(Cyclestherioides?) sp., Cyzicus(Euestheria) covacevichi D. sp., Cyzicus (Euestheria?) sp., Cyzicus (Lioestheria?) sp. y Asmussia sp. de la Formacion Peine. En base a los taxones mencionados se brindan ideas acerca de su distribucion geografica y temporal en el hemisferio sur. ABSTRACT. Paleozoic conchostracans (Crustaceae-Conchostraea) from Antofagasta Region, Northern Chile. Different conchostracans from the 'Miembro Medio' of the Pular Formation (Upper Carboniferous-? Lower Permian) and of the Peine Formation (?Upper Permian) are described. They comprise: Cyzicus (Euestheria) cl. ariceneis (Jones) from the former, and Palaeolimnadiopsis sp., Cornia sp., Estheriina (Estheriina) sp., Palaeolimnadia (Grandilimnadia) herbstin. sp., Cyclestherioides (Cyclestherioides?) sp., Cyzicus (Euestheria) covacevichi n. sp., Cyzicus (Euestheria?) sp., Cyzicus (Lioestheria?) sp. and Asmussia sp. from the latter. Reference is made to previous studies and a brief outline of the general geology and the position of the fossiliferous levels in the sequences are also given. Finally, a few remarks on the geographical distribution and the biochrons of the described taxa from the southern hemisphere are made.
