Limites de placas y acortamientos recientes entre los paralelos son y son, Andes Colombianos

Abstract

Resumen. La convergencia entre las placas Sudamericana, Caribe y Nazca esta representada por una cuna constituida por el bloque de Panama-Baudo y por el bloque Andino. El bloque de Panama-Baudo esta limitado al occidente por la zona de subduccion, hacia el este de la placa de Nazca, y al oriente, por el frente del cabalgamiento de este bloque sobre el bloque Andino. Este bloque Andino esta limitado al oriente por las fallas de rumbo de Bocono y Chucarima y por el cabalgamiento de vergencia este de Guaicaramo. Por otra parte, el mismo bloque Andino esta sometido a importantes acortamientos internos, marcados, en particular, por cabalgamientos de vergencia tanto oriental como occidental. Abstract. Present convergence between the South American, Caribbean and Nazca plates is represented by a wedge formed by the Panama-Baudo block and the Andean block. The Panama-Baudo block is limited to the west by the Nazca plate eastward dipping subduction zone and to the east, by the overthrusting front of this block over the Andean block. The Andean block is limited on the east by the Bocono and Chucarima wrench faults and by the overthrusting to the east along the Guaicaramo fault. Internally the Andean block is subjected to important internal shortenings marked by eastward and westward overthrustings.
